Jadon Sancho in Borussia Dortmund
Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund during the 2017 summer transfer window for £8 million. The German giants immediately included him in the first team. He secured the number 7 jersey. His first goal for the black and yellow was on April 21st 2018 against Bayer Leverkusen. He also provided two assists during the same game.
In the 2018-19 Bundesliga season, the English youngster didn’t get a chance to appear in the starting eleven. However, he was introduced as a substitute on every single game. Thus, Sancho made a huge impact by influencing the entire offense. His style is very unique as he is fast paced, can dribble through defenses and has accurate passing ability. His introduction in the 68th minute against Bayer Leverkusen on match-day 6 of the Bundesliga transformed the game in a huge way. First of all, he set up Marco Reus’s goal to allow Borussia Dortmund to equalize. He then put a ball on a silver plate for Paco Alcacer to secure the 3 points in the 94th minute.
With these amazing performances, Jadon Sancho gets great praise from Borussia Dortmund staff and teammates. “It’s just crazy. I think it’s incredibly important that he comes off the bench and does so well every time,” said team captain Marco Reus. “When our opponents ease off a little and Jadon comes into the game, then he’s a weapon for us every single time. We’re happy to have him up our sleeve and he always gives us a boost.” Moreover, Jadon Sancho said he has a special connection with teammate Marco Reus. He also praised Marco’s leadership and advice. “Obviously, he’s a great player and I’m so happy I’m playing with him.”
Right now, Jadon Sancho is topping the assist charts in Europe with 5 assists ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Only time will tell of the story on this talented young prospect. But until then, Jadon Sancho is Borussia Dortmund’s raising star.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
