Der Klassiker Build Up. During the last two years, Borussia Dortmund have struggled in the Bundesliga. Therefore, playing against Bayern Munich often ended up in defeats. However, Borussia Dortmund’s form this season is outstanding.
Bayern Munich’s Form
From the start on this season, Bayern Munich weren’t on top of their game. With Niko Kovac’s arrival, the Bavarian team didn’t show the same performance as in the last seasons. FC Augsburg was the first team to hold Bayern Munich winning streak by a draw. Then came two consucutive defeats from Hertha Berlin and Mönchengladbach.
Bayern Munich are now trailing 4 points behind Borussia Dortmund, a scene we were accustomed to in the previous Bundesliga campaigns.
Borussia Dortmund is an Attacking Powerhouse
With 30 goals from 10 games in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund are the top scoring team. A ratio of 3 goals per game is a reflection of how efficient the Black and Yellow’s attack is under Lucien Favre.
Although Borussia Dortmund lost attacking talent to bigger European clubs, they managed to recruit younger players who can do the job. Jadon Sancho is the feature of this Borussia Dortmund offense. Being only 18, he scored 4 goals and set up 6 in 10 Bundesliga games.
Another great attacking minded signing is Achraf Hakimi. The Real Madrid loanee full back showed an impact from day one. He set up 3 goals and scored 1 already this season.
Moreover, the club legend Marco Reus is on top form. He is taking the captain role and is a great influence on the pitch. After 10 games, Marco scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists.
Der Klassiker Build Up: Axel Witsel is confident
In an interview with Bundesliga.com, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel seemed very confident that Borussia Dortmund can win Der Klassiker. The Belgian international highlighted his teammates ability to dominate games this season. He also mentioned the fact that Bayern Munich aren’t on top of their game. However, Witsel made it clear that the Bavarian team are still dangerous and players must keep their vigilance during the game.
