Who is Youssoufa Moukoko?
The young German star rise came last October when he scored 2 goals against rivals Schalke. Youssoufa Moukoko helped Borussia Dortmund U-17 team to recover from a 3 goal deficit to finish the game with a 4-4 draw. He was only 12 years old then. He went on to score 40 goals in 28 games. Youssoufa Moukoko’s teammates celebrated the B-Junioren Bundesliga West later the same year.
Youssoufa Moukoko was born is Cameroon in November 24th 2004. His father Joseph Moukoko says he registered his son in the German embassy right after his birth, answering speculations about Youssoufa’s age. The German FA stepped in to clarify that the paperwork is correct and therefore the birth-date stands.
After coming to Borussia Dortmund from St Pauli, Youssoufa Moukoko immediately started scoring goals. Thus, in the 2016/17 season the young German scored 33 goals in 21 games. This brought the German FA’s attention and therefore the young kid was called to play in the German U-16 side against Austria the same year.
Fast forward to the current season, Youssoufa Moukoko is still making it happen. The BVB star has already scored 6 goals in 5 games. One of his greatest performances is a 10 minute Hat-trick against SC Paderborn which made it clear that his promotion to the U-19 team is very imminent.
According to the DFB rules, the minimum age of a Bundesliga player must be 17 years old. Time well tell if Youssoufa Moukoko will be the exception to this rule.
