69′ Marco Reus scores a GOAL! 2 minutes in and Sancho plays a sensational assist to Marco Reus who finishes it clinically. It’s the equalizer 2-2.

70′ With Bayer Leverkusen players panicking, a double substitution is made. Leon Bailey in for Lucas Alario. Tin Jedvaj in for Mitchell Weiser.

Players Performances

Although Borussia Dortmund tried to play a very aggressive game in the first half, they were countered by Bayer Leverkusen’s enthusiasm. Therefore, Borussia Dortmund kept losing the ball in the midfield due to Leverkusen’s high pressure. Both Bayer Leverkusen goals are out of luck and good positioning. The first half is one to forget for Lucien Favre’s men.

In the second half, and with the introduction of Mahmoud Dahoud, Borussia Dortmund start to find themselves in the pitch. The ball is flowing from defense to offense effortlessly. In addition to that, after 2 minutes of Jadon Sancho’s introduction, the Englishman executes a fine play with club captain Marco Reus. Thus, the veteran finisher score the first goal. Lucien Favre introduces Paco Alcacer to put more weight forward. With Hakimi’s runs forward, Borussia Dortmund find the back of the net again thanks to Bruun Larsen. Afterwards, the game became Dortmund’s to play. The team seemed more composed and able to produce more chances. Again Hakimi’s runs are made the best of by strikers. In fact, the second goal comes from Achraf Hakimi’s cross met with a finish by Paco Alcacer. Borussia Dortmund lead is being protected furiously in the last minutes of the game but there wasn’t a decrease in the attacking powerhouse. In the last minutes, Paco Alcacer scores in an open net finish the game. Bayer Leverkusen vs Borussia Dortmund games is ended 2-4. A very magical comeback. 

For the performances, Schmelzer absence made it difficult to create chances as he was replaced by Diallo. As for the defense, the Akanji Zagadou duo has proved it’s efficiency one again.  In addition, Hakimi is the real deal in the right side. He played 90 minutes of attacking football that lead to chances. Delaney failed to push the ball forward as he was helping Witsel in the midfield. Axel Witsel played a very important role in the second half to keep the ball away from Dortmund goal. Mahmoud Dahoud has allowed more game forward with his charismatic style. Pulisic couldn’t find his rythm, but Sancho did. His introduction made him set up two goals. Bruun Larsen played a good game and scored the equalizer. Philipp was substituted after failing to make an impact. Paco Alcacer scored two goals after playing 30 minutes. As for the team leader, the captain Marco Reus is what makes Dortmund work like a real unity. What’s important now is consistency. We hope Borussia Dortmund continue with their flow.
