Borussia Dortmund share points with Werder Bremen on Matchday 6 of the Bundesliga. The Black and Yellows are continuing their average performance after a loss in Berlin and a draw in Frankfurt.
Lack of a Finishing touch
In this Bundesliga season, Borussia Dortmund is one of the teams that have the most quality players. With signings like Hazard and Brandt, fans expect the best performances from their beloved team. Despite dominating the games, Borussia Dortmund still manage to drop points (or lose it all) in very important fixtures. Although the Black and Yellows dictate their style of play, there is an absence of a finishing touch in the last third.
Mario Gotze scored the equalizer in the 9th minute, 1 minute after Milot Rashica scored for the visitors. After that, Marco Reus scored the second goal after a very tailored cross by Thorgan Hazard. In the second half, Borussia Dortmund continued their domination but conceded a goal in the 55th minute after an error in marking Marco Friedl. In the end, Borussia Dortmund players tried to salvage a win in the last 35 minutes but without a result.
Is it Mentality or lack of Technicality
Looking at the BVB squad this season, it’s hard to blame these late results on lack of technical skills or choices in the bench. Despite what players and coaches say, it’s very obvious that these very hard circumstances are due to a lack of mental togetherness in the team. Looking back at the last games, Borussia Dortmund must find a way to get back in form, mentally, in order to fix these mistakes quickly.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
