Borussia Dortmund fans were hopeful that a miracle might happen in Munich. With Eintracht Frankfurt’s hanger for next season European football, the Black and Yellows had to win the game in Gladbach and hope the eagles seal the deal in Bavaria. Although there is no impossible in football, Bayern Munich wouldn’t let that happen. Despite their win in Gladbach 0-2, Borussia Dortmund finish second in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund did what they could
The Black and Yellows showed early domination. With Gotze, Reus, Sancho, and Pulisic in the front, Gladbach had to do more in the defense. Captain Marco Reus sets up Jadon Sancho to score his 12th goal of the season. The young Englishman seals a successful second campaign with Borussia Dortmund making a target for big European clubs.
In the second half, Borussia Dortmund didn’t back down. Although Gladbach made a few efforts to go forward, The hosts were stunned by a quick counter. Therefore, Pulisic puts an easy ball in Reus’s direction making it 0-2. The Black and Yellow enjoyed a relatively comfortable win. Unfortunately, it was not enough.
Bayern Munich destroy Eintracht in Bavaria
The first requirement for BVB to be crowned Bundesliga champions in winning in Gladbach. The second requirement, albeit very unlikely, was still possible, and it involved Eintracht Frankfurt doing Dortmund the biggest favor of beating Bayern in Munich.
Despite an early second-half equalizer by Eintracht in Munich that gave us, Borussia Dortmund supports, a bit of hope, Bayern Munich were not very keen on letting the Bundesliga title go. As a result, Bayern Munich are Bundesliga champions for the seventh consecutive season.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter.
