Borussia Dortmund Travel to Milan without Marco Reus

Named Bundesliga player of Matchday 8, Marco Reus led Borussia Dortmund to a 4 spots jump in the Bundesliga table. However, the Black and Yellow captain is suffering a flu infection and wasn’t able to travel with the team to Milan for the game against Inter Milan on Wednesday.

This will not be the first important absence in the BVB squad this season. In fact, in the game against Borussia Monchengladbach last Saturday, Jadon Sancho was suspended for arriving late from international duty. while Mario Gotze was ill and didn’t participate in the game. Marco Reus and teammates had to do without two of the best players in the squad. Thankfully, Borussia Dortmund secured 3 important points after Marco Reus scored the only goal in that game.

One other absentee is Paco Alcacer. While the Spaniard is having one of his best seasons in Dortmund, he often suffers injury spells that take him away for a while. This time, Paco Alcacer’s injury has no return date to it. It is also important to note that Roman Burki, who was very unlikely to travel with the team on Tuesday, managed to be fit for the important fixture.

Borussia Dortmund is at the top of the group F after a draw against FC Barcelona and a win in the Czech Republic against Slavia Prague. A win tomorrow in Milan will increase the chances of making it to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League this season.
