This season’s Bundesliga is in its closing games. Contrary to the last 5 years, the title race is still going. While Bayern Munich is leading the table, Borussia Dortmund is keeping pressure behind with 1 point difference. Traveling to Freiburg was an opportunity for the Black and Yellows to bring back their attacking momentum. Therefore they did just that, winning 0-4 and increasing the goal difference.
Average First Half from Marco Reus and co.
It took Jadon Sancho 12 minutes to score his 11th game of the season after an assist by Marco Reus. After that, Freiburg started kicking the ball around, making the visitors defend for most of the first half, which ended 0-1 for Borussia Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund players awaken after the break
Freiburg players start well in the second half. However, Marco Reus scores Dortmund’s second goal 9 minutes into the second half after a through ball from Raphael Guerreiro.
Lucien Favre’s men knew that a 2 goal difference wasn’t enough. To prevent spells similar to a draw after a 3 goal lead against Hoffenheim, Marco Reus and co had to find a way to seal the win. After Wolf’s substitution in the 56th minute due to an ankle injury, Freiburg kept searching to close the gap. Thankfully, Marco Reus sets up another assist in the 79th minute finding Mario Gotze to make it 0-3, before letting Paco Alcacer shoot a penalty in the 87th minute to secure a valuable 3 points.
Exciting 4 games to Go
With only 4 games to go, Borussia Dortmund must harvest all 12 points and hope for Bayern Munich to mess up somewhere. Marco Reus, Paco Alcacer and Jadon Sancho thrive to make this Bundesliga season end happily.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
