Borussia Dortmund wins in a pre-season friendly against Liverpool FC 2-3. The game took place in Notre-Dame Stadium in Indiana, USA. Fans were eager to watch the game between two of the most passionate clubs in football history. Despite the location, thousands of fans showed up to support the two teams for a very special fixture.
Equally contested first half
Despite their recent UEFA Champions League accolade, Liverpool FC lacked the presence of key players like Mohamed Salah, Robert Ferminho, and Sadio Mané. Borussia Dortmund started the game with an attacking mindset introducing Julian Brandt for his first game for the club.
Paco Alcacer managed to score in the 3rd minute. The game went on as Jurgen Klopp seemed very happy to see both teams win. In the 35th minute, Wilson scored after a pass between Borussia Dortmund’s backline. The first half ended 1-1.
Big Guns Deployed in the Second Half
After the break, both coaches deployed their finest players to participate in the second half. Captain Marco Reus and Thorgan Hazard were among players who were introduced in the second half. While Jurgen Klopp made several changes pushing the likes of Virgil Van Dijk.
Borussia Dortmund kept the attacking mindset. Therefore, Thomas Delaney scores the 2nd goal making it 1-2 in the 53rd minute. Bruun Larsen increased the game 5 minutes later with a 3rd goal. Liverpool FC tried to reduce the deficit after Brewster scored a penalty. The game ended in favor of Borussia Dortmund 2-3.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
