Borussia Dortmund Won The Derby

The mother of all derbies. Twice a year, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 clash in contest for superiority. On Saturday night, the Black and Yellows traveled to Gelsenkirchen to face rival their neighbors. Although the two teams have different objectives this season, the Bundesliga leaders had to be careful. However, Borussia Dortmund won the derby after a fine battle. 

A Passionate Battle on The Pitch

Schalke 04 didn’t think about their position in the table ahead of the game. Their main objective was winning at home. Not only did a win mean running away from relegation, but also a delight to see the rivals defeated. Borussia Dortmund on the other hand went to the neighbor city to finish a job. In fact, it seemed like it’s another day at the office for Lucien Favre’s men.

The Royal Blue players seemed very agressive, not holding back from furious tackles. However, Borussia Dortmund players were unfazed. Attacking with all their wrath is a Dortmund brand this season, and tonight’s game wasn’t an exception.

Borussia Dortmund managed to score early. In the 7th minute, Delaney uses the power of Reus‘s freekick to put the ball in the net. Although Schalke were able to score a goal from a penalty kick, Jadon Sancho destroyed their hopes of getting points in the 74th minute.

Borussia Dortmund’s defense seemed very focused apart from some mistakes here and there. While Schalke’s defense displayed a really sloppy performance and were lucky more than once. Final result, Borussia Dortmund win in Schalke 1-2.

The German Black and Yellows continue their unbeaten season. These 3 points are very important to keep Bayern Munich at bay. With the winter break approaching, Borussia Dortmund seem to have what it takes to win the title this season. But most importantly, Borussia Dortmund won the derby for the first time in years.
