BVB Disappointingly Lose in Leverkusen

Borussia Dortmund lose disappointingly against Bayer 04 in Leverkusen. Following the loss on Tuesday against Werder Bremen, Borussia Dortmund suffer an early DFB cup exit. Lucien Favre stated that the DFB cup game should be forgotten. It seems like the loss didn’t go through well with BVB players especially the defenders.

Dortmund proved that despite having great talent in the defense, teams aren’t immune to stupid mistakes. Lucien Favre still players Manuel Akanji despite his current form. The defender was a key component in most goals Borussia Dortmund conceded this season. One of which is scored by Kevin Holland in the 20th minute. Mats Hummels didn’t wait more than 2 minutes to equalize from a stronger header. The newcomer, Emre Can, scored a screamer by curling the ball from 30 meters in the 33rd minute. Volland comes back in the 43rd minute to equalize for the home team.

After the break, both teams seemed eager to take home all the points. Despite Borussia Dortmund’s claim to the win after Guerreiro’s goal, Leverkusen finishe the game in style with 81st and 82nd-minute goals to make it 4-3. Borussia Dortmund are 3rd behind RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich with very important upcoming fixtures.
