Watching Borussia Dortmund has been hard for me lately. Not only did they drop too much points in the title race, they also lost to very humble teams. If there is a low point to Borussia Dortmund’s performance this season we passed the threshold already. And it’s the job of Lucien Favre to clean up the mess.
Overall Sloppy Performance… Defensively
Borussia Dortmund’s back four was very tidy this season, until Fortuna Dusseldorf’s game on Match Day 16. One of the main reason the Black and Yellows were kicked out of the DFB Cup and about to face the same fate in the UEFA Champions league is Akanji and Zagadou’s injury.
Tonight’s game against Augsburg proved that the two defenders aren’t mentally back. Especially Zagadou who made so many mistakes one of which allowed Augsburg to score the first goal. Then came Hakimi with a bellow average performance. In addition to that, his sloppy pass in the 68th minute gave Augsburg a second goal.
The Captain is Back
Some might argue that Marco Reus‘s performance wasn’t on point. However, the Captain played was the best player on the pitch tonight. However, Jadon Sancho wasn’t in his best shape. Mario Götze played an average game with some dangerous passes. Paco Alcacer‘s inclusion reduced made the score 2-1.
Bayern Will be Happy
The Bavarian pressure is mounting. If Bayern win tomorrow in Gladbach, they will be level with Borussia Dortmund in the top. However, if the Bundesliga champions lose, then Borussia Dortmund will bite their nails for not getting a 6 points lead.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
