How Bad is Mario Götze Injury

In the Revierderby fixture last Saturday, Mario Götze left his spot for Thorgan Hazard in the 58th minute. At first, the substitution felt a bit weird as Götze was one of the best players in that game. However, it turns out Borussia Dortmund #10 has arm problems. Afterward, the German striker left the Veltins Arena immediately in the direction of a hospital.

Borussia Dortmund announced on Tuesday that Mario Götze’s injury is a fracture of the arm bone and a not so dangerous ligament issue. However, he is not ruled out of the squad for Wednesday’s DFB Cup game against Gladbach.

Other Borussia Dortmund players on the list of absentees are Paco Alcacer and goalkeeper Roman Burki. Paco Alcacer started training again on Sunday. However, it is still very early for his return to competition games. Roman Burki, on the other hand, has a flu infection and Marwin Hitz is replacing him for the moment.

Borussia Dortmund had a very bumpy start to the season. After 9 games, the Black and Yellow sit in the 5th position with 16 points, 3 points less than their next opponent in the DFB Cup, Borussia Mönchengladbach.
