Borussia Dortmund’s recruiting rampage continues, and this time it’s another young Spanish talent. The North Rhine-Westphalia club signs 19 years old Mateu Morey on a 5-year deal after months of speculation.
A Signing for the Future
Lukasz Piszczek is one of Borussia Dortmund’s most respected players. Although a strong figure both on and off the pitch, he is edging on retirement. Therefore, the Black & Yellow are looking for a suitable replacement. And what’s better than a young talent who can learn and grow under experienced care?
The 4th Barcelona Player
Paco Alcacer, Sergio Gomez, Marc Bartra are all names that Borussia Dortmund fans love and worship. Mateu Morey comes from the same source, F.C. Barcelona, more precisely La Masia Academy. Despite his young age, Morey might bring more of that Spanish passion for Football that Alcacer and Hakimi showed last season.
Strong, Fast and Smart
A modern full-back, Morey is a very versatile player. His energy allows him to be everywhere. Although he is only 172cm in height, he is strong in challenges and tackles. He also has a very sharp attacking mindset, enabling him to consistently provide his teammates in the box.
With all these qualities, Mateu Morey will still have to prove himself in training. The camp is starting very soon and players like Leonardo Balerdi and Achraf Hakimi will work hard to earn their place in the starting eleven. One thing is sure, the Black & Yellow squad will be full of talent for the upcoming season.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
