Borussia Dortmund salvaged a point at home against SC Paderborn. Despite being 18th in the Bundesliga table, Paderborn scored a goal in the 5th minute. With the lack of a response from the Black and Yellow team, the visitors increased the gap in the 37th minute.
These warnings weren’t enough for BVB players to comeback in the game. Therefore, Paderborn players take advantage of a quick counter to make it 0-3 2 minutes before half-time. A much unwelcome event by the Westfallenstadion supports who made their anger very clear.
To make matters worse, Paco Alcacer picked up a knee injury before the 45th-minute mark. Therefore, Julian Brandt stepped in to replace him. The referee sent the players to the locker rooms, a much-needed break for BVB players and fans.
The second-half saw BVB players come back with a new strategy. Achraf Hakimi and Thorgan Hazard replaced Nico Schulz and Mahmoud Dahoud. A change that proved it’s efficiency as Hakimi set up Sancho to make 1-3 in the 47th minute.
However, Paderborn seemed able to neutralize Borussia Dortmund’s players’ enthusiasm. Despite an intense attacking power, the black and yellow players were unable to find the back of the net due to a combination of lost chances and visitors defending well.
Finally, the Yellow Wall fans saw a glimmer of hope as Witsel made it 2-3 in the 84th minute. While Marco Reus participated in the rescue squad to make it 3-3 in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, the late effort wasn’t enough to pick up 3 points forcing Borussia Dortmund to share 1 point with Paderborn.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
