It’s no doubt that in the last games, Borussia Dortmund weren’t convincing at all. However, on Match day 23, the Black and Yellows felt pressure from Bayern Munich. In fact, Bayern managed to level with Borussia Dortmund for the first time since September. Thankfully, Jadon Sancho and co scored important 3 points to increase the gap in the top of the Bundesliga.
Leverkusen Started Strong
During the first 20 minutes of the game, Borussia Dortmund found it difficult to keep up with Bayer 04 intensive attacking play. Although the Bundesliga leaders had opportunities to break, players often lost the ball in the midfield due to Bayer’s high pressure.
Suddenly, against the game’s direction, Dan Axel Zagadou scores from a fine corner delivery by Jadon Sancho. Shortly afterwards, Kevin Volland makes it even 1-1. However, Jadon Sancho couldn’t wait and scored the second for Dortmund in the following minute. The first half ended 2-1 in BVB’s favor.
Well Contested Second Half
Lucien Favre’s locker room talk seemed very effective. Borussia Dortmund came back with a different play style than the first half. They threatened Bayer’s defense more than once. As a result, Mario Götze scores after a brilliant strike outside the penalty area. Paco Alcacer scores a goal as well but was denied by video assistant referee.
The Westfalenstadion fans had a scare when Tah scored the 2nd goal for Leverkusen. It just looked like the disappointing game against Hoffenheim on Match day 21. Thankfully, Borussia Dortmund players defended their one goal lead with claws and teeth. Finally, the fans were relieved after hearing the final whistle, putting Borussia Dortmund on top with 3 points leads.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
