Setback after setback, it seems like Borussia Dortmund players’ confidence is suffering. Despite being favorites to win the Bundesliga at the beginning of the campaign, the Black and Yellows are now trailing behind Bayern Munich. In the game against historic rivals Werder Bremen, Borussia Dortmund give up a two-goal lead to a draw, diminishing their title hopes two games away from the end.
A Very Controlled First Half
It took Christian Pulisic only 6 minutes to score BVB’s first goal. Then Borussia Dortmund controlled the pace of the game, making it difficult for the home team to build up play. Despite Marco Reus’s absence, Jadon Sancho and co were looked very confident and composed.
In the 41st minute, Paco Alcacer was in the mood to score another trademark freekick making it 0-2 for the visitors. The referee sent both teams to the break shortly afterward.
Another Disastrous Let Down from Borussia Dortmund’s Defense
Werder Bremen players were looking for next season European action. Therefore, they pressured Borussia Dortmund to make mistakes. However, the Black and Yellows continued their quest for the title by pushing forward. A Paco Alcacer goal was denied at the 58th minute due to an offside position.
Due to mistakes in Borussia Dortmund’s defense, Mohwald and Pizarro score in the 70th and 75th minute to level the game. Putting the Black and Yellows hopes to win silverware in great danger. Despite Axel Witsel’s friends’ efforts, the game ended 2-2. A huge disappointment for BVB fans. Bayern Munich goes 4 points clear with only two games left in the Bundesliga.
From the 2005 Borussia Dortmund, till the title winning squad in 2011 and UEFA Champions League runner up era, Mostafa was always a very passionate Black and Yellow supporter. You would often see him in Coffee shops and Bars on Matchdays. He will be wearing a BVB jersey and sipping on a German beer and most likely swearing at the referee.
